Biography

Adva Reichman is an Israeli writer, director based in Los Angeles with an M.F.A from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.

Growing up, she was always fascinated by the arts and experimented with dancing, sculpting, singing, drawing and more. To this day, her childhood paintings still decorate her parents’ home. However, one thing was constant and that was writing. No matter where she was or what she was doing, writing was her safe haven. As a child Adva was a TV addict, and her parents relentlessly tried to come between her and the magical box. As a grown up, she did what any other addict would – pack up and move half way around the world to make her passion, a reality. This time, her parents were on board.

Before moving to LA, Adva served in the Israeli army as an Operation Sargent in Jenin, The West Bank and got discharged with honors. After graduating with a BFA in communications and business from Reichman University in Israel, she began working in the Israeli news, covering war and terror alongside everyday topics. She continued to tackle issues that dealt with the Israeli Palestinian conflict and worked on documentaries that revolved around major terror attacks and kidnappings that took place in Israel during the 70’s and 80’s. Her experiences have inspired many of her writings.

She is known for crafting high concept work with emotional quality, eye-catching visuals, and provocative narratives. Her passion lies in creating complex characters and placing them in controversial worlds.

‘Samir’, a ‘Count of Monte Cristo’ adaption feature she co-wrote, was financed by Warner Bros. ‘Jerusalem 67’, an American Israeli co-production feature she wrote about the six day war, starring Yael Grobglas (Jane the Virgin) and Itzik Cohen (Fauda), finished principal photography over the summer.

Her short film ‘Something to Live For’ deals with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and screened in dozens of festivals around the world including Urbanworld and Taormina Film Festival, headed by Oliver Stone. Her feature screenplay ‘Project Fog’ was an Academy Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist, a Flickers’ Rhode Island festival winner, a ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship finalist and a Black List Feature residency semi-finalist, amongst others.

She is currently in development for a new feature, a psychological thriller/horror.

Adva is a vegan activist, so when she isn’t spending her time making films, she dedicates herself to helping animals.
